RB Leipzig have completed the signing of German international David Raum. The defender joins the club from Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim.

There were many top European teams interested in the defender. However, Leipzig have won the race for his signature.

RB LEIPZIG AND DAVID RAUM TRANSFER SAGA FULL STORY

The 24-year-old only joined Hoffenheim from Greuther Furth last season. However, he enjoyed a fine debut season. He helped in defense as well as the attack on the left flank. Hence, a number of sides showed interest in the German full-back. However, RB Leipzig have won the race for his signature. The report also adds that they have beaten a number of sides for the defender.

According to reports, Manchester United and Manchester City were interested in the defender. However, United have signed Tyrell Malacia and Manchester City are now focussing on signing Brighton’s Marc Cucurella. That cleared the path for Leipzig to move for the defender. The Bundesliga club have signed the player for a fee of around €30m including add-ons on a five-year contract until 2027.

DAVID RAUM IS VERY HAPPY WITH THE MOVE TO HIS NEW CLUB

The German international is also happy with the move. David Raum said the draw of the Champions League football was a factor in his decision to move to the club. He also added,” “I am very happy about my move to RB Leipzig. The club tried hard to get me and the discussions with coach Domenico Tedesco, the sporting management, and managing director Oliver Mintzlaff quickly convinced me that the step to Leipzig was absolutely the right one for me.

Now Hoffeinhim will try to use the funds to sign some of their own targets. However, RB Leipzig will now focus on selling or loaning out Angelino. The defender is keen to move to his homeland Spain. Barcelona are reportedly interested in a deal for him. However, they will only move for him if they miss out on their top target Marcos Alonso. He is also offered to a host of other La Liga sides.

In the last season, David Raum in the German top flight scored three goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions for Hoffenheim. He is also now a regular on the German national team. Now playing in the Champions League will help up his market value and personal development.
