Brighton&Hove Albion have reportedly rejected a bid from Manchester City for Marc Cucurella.

Brighton have reportedly rejected a bid by Manchester City for Marc Cucurella. The bid was reportedly worth £30m for the left-back.

The 23-year-old is the top target for Pep Guardiola. However, City will not pay over the odds for the left-back.

City have allegedly agreed to sell Zinchenko to Arsenal. They will receive £30m from the sale. He has also agreed personal terms at the Emirates stadium. City are stepping up their efforts for Marc Cucurella as Zinchenko is heading for the exit door. However, there is still some distance between themselves and Brighton over the transfer fee.

According to The Athletic, the Premier League champions have tabled an opening offer of around £30m for the left-back. But, the bid was rejected by Brighton. The report also adds that City are willing to raise their offer. However, they are not willing to meet Brighton’s valuation of £50m for Marc Cucurella. The Spanish left-back has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Manchester City.

Negotiations between both the clubs are reportedly continuing. However, they are said to be in the early stages. Further talks are also expected to take place in the coming days. However, Pep Guardiola has made it clear. the club won’t overpay for the player. He also said the club has enough cover in the left-back position if Marc Cucurella does not arrive this summer.

“We are in negotiations. If it doesn’t happen, we have alternatives. [Joao] Cancelo, [Josh] Wilson-Esbrand is a young talent, [Nathan] Ake can play there,” Guardiola said after City’s 2-1 friendly win over Club America in Houston. Despite his comments, the club have identified Stuggart left-back Borna Sosa as a potential target. However, Sosa will only be pursued if they fail in their pursuit of Cucurella.

Brighton’s Chairman Tony Bloom has also said that they will not stand in the player’s way if a suitable bid arrives. However, he told a bid is still yet to arrive. The talks for Cucurella intensified when he liked an Instagram post confirming the transfer of Kalvin Philips to Manchester City.
