Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies has revealed he was a Chelsea supporter during his childhood days. The player added that he grew up watching them.

However, he says he is currently only focused on Bayern Munich. The fullback campaign was cut short due to a heart condition. Although, he is ready to play again

The Canadian left-back was asked in an interview about which club he supported. He said he supported the Blues during his childhood days. Davies has flourished since he arrived at the Allianz Arena. He also helped the German giants win trophies during his time. The full-back at the age of 21 has already lifted 4 Bundesliga titles. He will be joined in defense in the upcoming season by new signing Matthijs De Ligt.

Interestingly, Chelsea needs a new left-back. This is due to question marks over the future of Marcos Alonso. According to reports, Alonso is close to joining Barcelona. The transfer if it happens Thomas Tiuchel will need a replacement. However, Davies is unlikely to be the replacement as he is a huge part of Bayern’s defensive set-up. Bayern Munich have also said in recent times, that the defender is not for sale.

THE BLUES NEED TO SORT OUT THEIR DEFENSIVE SITUATION

Chelsea were reportedly the front runners for Jules Kounde and Matthijs De Ligt. However, De Ligt has moved to Bayern Munich, whereas Kounde is close to joining Barcelona. Although, they have managed to sign Kalidou Kouibaly from Napoli. However, Thomas Tuchel wants another center-back signing. The new signing and Koulibaly will replace help them replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

The duo have joined Real Madrid and Barcelona on free transfers. However, the rejections by their targets raise question marks on the options available for the club. Alongside there is also uncertainty over the futures of club captain Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso. Both the players want to leave the club and join Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Alphonso Davies has made 115 appearances for Bayern. He has also scored 5 goals and provided 18 assists. His attributes as a modern full-back and the speed to counter the attack make him a very exciting full-back to watch out for.
