Arsenal are looking to bolster their squad in the summer with many players being targeted. A striker tops their list, but Mikel Arteta want Tielemans as well. Arsenal tried to bring in a midfielder in winter market, but couldn’t close a deal.
However, they could finally have their hands on a quality midfielder from the premier league. The Gunners are closely tracking Leicester’s Youri Tielemans for a summer move. The Leicester City midfielder is on the radars of multiple clubs, attracting special interest from Arsenal.
Though Leicester manager Brendon Rodgers want the Belgian to stay, a forced sale could take place here. Leicester need new signings in the summer and as a result Tielemans could be sold. The 24-year-old’s contract expires next summer, and this is the only chance Leicester can cash-in on him.
Arsenal could end up paying a mere £25 million for the Leicester midfielder
Youri Tielemans is at the top of his game since joining Leicester City. This is not the first instance where he is attracting offers from other clubs. However, Tielemans’ fantastic relationship with Brendon Rodgers kept the Belgian with the Foxes. Tielemans has played 111 league games for Leicester so far, scoring 18 times and further providing 16 assists. Moreover, the dominant midfielder played every league game for the Foxes last season. However, Leicester could lose such a talent for mere £25 million, almost half of his market value.
Rodgers has confirmed earlier that Leicester are going to make signings this summer. However, the club is short on funds and will first have to facilitate outgoings. Tielemans is currently a hot prospect in the market and could be cashed-in on. Leicester have only this summer to sell Tielemans and could let him leave for just £25 million. Tielemans on the other hand is ready to see out his contract at King Power, but would then leave for free next summer. To avoid such a situation, Leicester are ready to part ways for a small fee. Arsenal should consider themselves lucky if all the buy the midfielder for just £25 million. The Gunners need his qualities in their midfield, and could get them for cheap.
Tielemans wants Champions League
After 4 seasons with Leicester, the Belgian midfielder now wants to take the next step in his career. Like every other player, Tielemans wants a return to the Champions League.
He last played in the European competition in 2018/19 with Monaco. Leicester have shown great potential to qualify for the Champions League in the recent years, but have failed to make the cut. As a result, Tielemans is exploring new opportunities. Manchester United have shown their interest as well along with Arsenal in the midfielder.
Both United and Arsenal are fighting for a place in the top four this season. It seems that the club which makes it to next season’s Champions League get Tielemans. The North Londoners currently sit above United in the table, and look favourites to get the job done. If all Arsenal get Champions League, they get the Leicester midfielder. Moreover, for a bargained fee of £25 million.
How the table looks at the of the season will probably decide Tielemans’ next club. Arsenal however are ready to fight for the midfielder irrespective of the Champions League football.
