Arsenal were interested in signing Lisandro Martinez confirms Edwin Van de Sar

Ajax’s Chief Executive has confirmed that Arsenal were showing interest in signing Lisandro Martinez. However, they ended up rejecting the bid.

Although, in the end, Manchester United ended up signing the defender. The Gunners also managed to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko.

THE INTEREST OF ARSENAL IN LISANDRO MARTINEZ

Arsenal were interested in signing Lisandro Martinez in the summer transfer window. Ajax Chief Executive Edwin Van de Sar confirmed the Gunners interest in the Argentina defender. However, he has also confirmed that the bid was below valuation. Hence, they refused to enter into negotiations. Edwin has also confirmed that the Gunners did not make another bid for the defender.

However, in the end, Manchester United bought him in the summer transfer window. Edwin Van der Sar confirming the same said,

Arsenal came earlier for Lisandro, but it was an amount where we said, ‘Thank you very much for the offer, but we’d rather keep the player than start negotiating’. ‘With United, it was a little bit different. Over the years we have had a few conversations: Daley Blind, Donny van de Beek.

THE GUNNERS AND MANCHESTER UNITED GOT GOOD DEALS FOR THEMSELVES IN THE END

It looks like both Arsenal and Manchester United got good deals for themselves in the end. The Gunners ended up signing Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City. Hence, the left-back has performed well so far. Whereas, for United, Lisandro Martinez is slowly turning into a brilliant center-back. He struggled initially. However, the defender has slowly improved for the Red Devils.

Edwin Van der Sar has also praised the work of Erik Ten Hag for Manchester United. Whereas, Arsenal are at the top of the Premier League table. Hence, both teams are rebuilding their clubs with their respective managers. Whereas, for Sar, he has already signed a new three-year contract with Ajax. Hence, he is set to continue his 10-year stay with the Dutch giants.

Arsenal and Manchester United will hope that they can continue their brilliant form in the second half of the season. Both the Premier League giants are also going to be busy in the January transfer window. Therefore, both managers will have funds to spend in January.
