Gabriel Jesus scores twice on debut as Arsenal beat Nuremberg in a friendly.

Arsenal scored five goals as they beat Nuremberg in their second friendly of the season. Gabriel Jesus also scored two goals in his debut game for the Gunners.

The Brazilian made his first appearance for the club since completing his move from Manchester City. Jesus brought his five-year stay at City to an end to join Arsenal this summer. He had scored 95 goals in 236 appearances for the club across all competitions.

ARSENAL COME BACK FROM BEHIND TO BEAT NUREMBERG IN A FRIENDLY MATCH

Mikel Arteta’s side found themselves 2-0 down at the full time. Nuremberg scored 2 quick goals midway through the first half. The manager then made a total of four changes before the second half started. It included Gabriel Jesus coming on for his debut for the club. It is safe to say he has started his career at Arsenal with a bang. He changed the pace and score of the game after coming on. The 25-year-old netted within 90 seconds of his arrival after being set up by Ainsley Maitland -Niles.

Mohammed Elneny equalized for Arsenal with a fantastic effort just seven minutes later. The turnaround around was complete for Arsenal before the hour mark thanks to an own goal from Nuremberg. The host again scored an own goal to give Arsenal a 4-2 advantage inside 63 minutes. Nuremberg got one back in the contents in 73 minutes. However, Jesus and Arsenal responded immediately to restore their two-goal lead with the striker finishing at the near post from the cross of Gabriel Martinelli . This gave Arsenal a 5-3 win against Nuremberg who ply their trade in 2. Bundesliga.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR MIKEL ARTETA AND THE TEAM?

Arsenal jet off to the USA for the pre-season tour next week. The club will play in the friendlies against Everton and Orlando City. They have a good following as a club in the US. This will also help them continue their preparations for the 2022-23 season. The club also expects to be busy in the market with incomings and outgoings both possible.

Arsenal are looking to bring a midfielder and center-back. They have been linked with Youri Tielemans for the midfielder role. Whereas, Lisandro Martinez is linked for the role of center-back. However, none of the deals are in advanced negotiations. Mikel Arteta expects the club to fight for top-4 places this season. The owners are also supporting by putting money into the club for transfers.

They have already completed the signing of Matt Turner, Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Viera, and wonderkid Marquinhos have already been signed this summer. In terms of outgoings, Lucas Torreira and Hector Bellerin are searching for new clubs. Both have plenty of interest from the clubs from Spain. However, a transfer fee is yet to be agreed with any club. Academy stars are also set to depart on loan.
