Liverpool have reportedly agreed on a fee with Juventus to sign Arthur Melo at the end of his loan spell. However, both the clubs are yet to confirm the news.

LIVERPOOL AND ARTHUR MELO TRANSFER SAGA FULL STORY

According to reports, Liverpool have reportedly agreed on a fee with Juventus to sign midfielder Arthur Melo at the end of his loan spell. The fee agreed is reportedly £40m including fees and wages. The Reds announced the loan signing of the midfielder one hour before the transfer window shut. Other details of the loan deal have also been reportedly discovered.

The reports also claim that the Reds will have to pay a loan fee of £4m. It also includes a buy option worth around £32.5m. The buy option comes into effect at the end of the season. In addition, Liverpool will also pay most of his salary during his loan spell. The salary of the midfielder is £4.3million-a-year salary which is equivalent to around £ 80,000 a week.

WHY HAS JURGEN KLOPP DECIDED TO SPEND THE MONEY ON ARTHUR MELO?

Just before the deadline was going to start, the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp admitted that the club are going to try and sign a midfielder before the window closes. He said,

“[Our need] changed of course. I know we have had this discussion since it all started and I am the one who said we don’t need a midfielder and you were all right and I was wrong. That’s the situation.

Hence, it looks like Jurgen Klopp thinks Arthur Melo is the right signing in the midfield department for Liverpool. The Reds currently have a number of midfielders on the sidelines due to injuries. They are without Thiago Alcantara, Naby Kieta, and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlin. Henderson also joined the casualty list. The midfielder suffered a hamstring injury against Newcastle United.

Arthur Melo will be competing with the likes of Fabinho, Harvey Elliot, James Milner, and Curtis Jones for a spot in the midfield of Liverpool. The Brazilian midfielder has struggled to get game time since moving to Juventus from Barcelona. Hence, he was made available for a transfer by the Italian giants.
