Liverpool standout, Stefan Bajcetic watched by Sevilla ahead of 2024 summer transfer window

Liverpool

It is not surprising that Sevilla and other teams are closely monitoring Stefan Bajcetic as he quickly establishes himself as a powerful midfielder for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.

Bajcetic joined the Reds from Celta Vigo in 2020. He spent some time in the club’s youth systems before receiving his big chance on August 27, 2022, during the Reds’ 9-0 thrashing of Bournemouth at Anfield, thanks to Klopp. Since then, he has progressed. He now seems to be a perfect match for the German system in Merseyside.

Although Bajcetic’s breakthrough season was cut short by injury, he is still only 18. He still has the finest years of his career ahead of him. There is no evidence to suggest that he won’t continue to grow into a star in the years to come given what one has seen of him in reds’ colours so far.

Both Spain and Liverpool view the 18-year-old as a long-term investment since they can both utilise his skills in the following ten years. Sevilla, a La Liga team, are reportedly prepared to join the bandwagon. They have identified the teenager as a long-term answer to their midfield difficulties.

Victor Orta believes the athlete is the ideal match for their system. He is considering a move for his services in the summer of 2024. The Reds are in a better negotiating position because the player’s current contract expires in 2027. Sevilla continues to express a clear interest. But Liverpool is unlikely to want to trade with their prized midfielder.

The nod of approval from Liverpool manager

Bajcetic is admired by Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp, as seen by the faith he has so far shown in the young man. Bajcetic already has a lot of football knowledge, so working alongside Thiago Alcantara will only be beneficial. The impact of solid mentorship is becoming apparent now that the Spaniard has taken the protege under his wing.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp said

“The mix of Serbia and Spain is good for his football. He’s an intelligent boy. Interesting that his dad and Thiago’s dad played together. Thiago took him under his wing. An absolute joy.”

Bajcetic is now recovering from an injury. But coming season, he should have more chances to shine. The Reds may have a player of the highest calibre on their hands based on what one has seen so far.

It makes little sense for Liverpool to sell a quality player like Bajcetic because they are rebuilding. He will provide the Reds a midfield berth that is future-proof. Bajcetic will also have plenty of chances to play frequently at Anfield under a coach that has faith in him. There isn’t much cause for optimism in Sevilla right now.
