Everton are reportedly close to signing Lille midfielder Amadou Onana. The midfielder is going to upgrade the level of the midfield.
Frank Lampard also said last season that the midfield was very easy to bypass. It seems like the owners have listened to his suggestions.
EVERTON AND AMADOU ONANA TRANSFER LINKS FULL STORY
According to reports, Onana has agreed to personal terms with the Toffees. Lille and West Ham had agreed a fee for the midfielder. However, he was desperate to join Everton. The report also states that the midfielder had a good long talk with manager Frank Lampard. Hence, it now looks like the Blues have beaten the competition of West Ham to his signing.
Amadou Onana was going to stay at Lille this summer. Lille were also not ready to sell him. However, it looks like the proposal of Everton has changed his mind and the club’s mind. The player was also present in the stands when they played Chelsea in the Premier League opener. However, it looks like he won’t be the only midfielder signing for the Blues.
THE TOFFEES ARE ALSO CLOSE TO RE-SIGNING IDRISSA GUEYE
According to other reports, Idrissa Gueye is also close to re-signing for the club. The midfielder is going to arrive at Goodison Park on a loan deal until the end of the season. The report also states only the final details of the deal are left to be completed. Gueye was at the club before he signed for PSG for a deal of around 32 million. However, he has failed to impress the French giants.
Hence, it looks like the fan-favorite midfielder is returning to the club. The Senegal midfielder is going to provide experience and stability to the midfield. He is expected to partner Onana in the midfield. Everton are looking to avoid a relegation battle like last season. They are also expected to be active in the market for forward as Dominic Calvert Lewin is again going to miss the start of the season due to injury.
Till now, Everton have completed the loan signings of Conor Coady and Ruben Vinagre and permanent signings of Tarkowski and Dwight Mcneil. They are now expected to announce the deals for Gueye and Onana in the coming days.
