West Ham player Soucek anticipating a shock exit

In a shocking revelation, West Ham’s Tomas Soucek is tipped to leave in the summer. Moreover, two of the Premier league clubs have already registered their interests as well. Soucek has formed the core of West Ham along with other players helping the club to regular European football. Furthermore, the midfielder is currently a part of the West Ham team which is fighting for a top four finish.

Amidst West Ham’s intriguing season, Soucek wanting to leave comes as a complete surprise. The Czech Republic international has formed a solid partnership in the midfield alongside Declan Rice. As a result, the duo have consistently delivered for the Hammers taking them where they are now. But come summer, their partnership could be broken if Soucek leaves. Moreover, Rice is heavily linked with a move away as well.

Soucek feels ‘undermined’ by West Ham treatment

According to 90min, Tomas Soucek is left feeling undermined at the club. The reason being West Ham’s reluctance in offering the midfielder a new contract. Soucek has reportedly demanded a new, improved contract, and manager David Moyes isn’t keen on giving out one. Moyes feels that Soucek has not delivered according to his potential this season. And as a result, the manager has insisted that this is not the right time to lend Soucek a new contract.

However, to some extent Moyes has a point here. Soucek has put on average displays more frequently this season than his solid ones. He joined West Ham on loan in January 2020, and became an instant hit. The Hammers wasted no time in making his deal permanent for around £15 million. In his first full season with West Ham, Soucek scored played 41 games and scored 10 goals, helping the club to qualify for Europa League. However, there is dip in Soucek’s from this season who has netted just 6 times in 45 games. Moyes is reportedly disappointed over Soucek’s form and unconvinced over his demands.

Premier League clubs waiting to pounce on the opportunity to sign Soucek

Since Soucek is ready to explore options, two unnamed Premier League clubs are tracking his situation. However, though David Moyes is disappointed in Soucek over this season, he highly rates the midfielder.

Soucek started all of West Ham’s league games last season, and has missed out on only two occasions this season. This shows Moyes does count on the 27-year-old despite his inconsistency. But if the interested Premier League clubs are the ones who would finish above West Ham, Soucek may well be tempted.

West Ham are in the Europa League semi-finals, facing Eintracht Frankfurt. But the Hammers sit 7th in the table, out of every European place. If they are to keep players like Soucek and Rice, they need to secure European football for next season. On the other hand, the Czech international needs to do his bit as well. Soucek can still turn things around if he manages to score 4 or 5 odd goals in the remaining fixtures. Nonetheless, he looks more close to sign an extension than leaving London Stadium anytime soon.
